transformational mentoringCreating Developmental Alliances for Changing Organisational Cultures
As organizational structures change so individual development methods must adapt to suit new business cultures. Julie Hay’s book Transformational Mentoring introduces a totally new approach to an important way of developing employees. It recognises that traditional mentoring techniques are no longer valid as hierarchically structured companies are being replaced with flatter, leaner ones. We need a much more flexible alternative where peers, unrelated work colleagues or even external business people can create alliances to enhance personal development. In today’s business world where there is much more career mobility, flexible employment options and a need to escape gender and cultural stereotyping, transformational mentoring is a practical step forward. For human resource professionals, trainers and senior executives, Transformational Mentoring will help rid you of the restrictions of old fashioned, ineffective methods and set your business and its employees on the way to a successful learning experience. This book will give you clear guidelines for introducing what Julie Hay calls developmental alliances. Her approach offers a corporate level perspective as well as the detail you will need for successful implementation. Content includes:

This package includes all you need to set up your personal mentoring scheme - copies of all 15 issues plus the right to make a photocopy for your mentor.
Here is a way you can have your own, personal, mentoring scheme - even if you work independently or within an organisation that has no mentoring arrangements (or has a scheme that you can’t join). The package even includes a helpline - simply email us with your queries. Action Mentoring is our name for a new approach to mentoring. We believe that traditional mentoring, where a senior manager sponsors a young high-flying protégé, is out-dated and divisive. We see no reason why everyone should not be seen as capable and worthy of development. We have therefore created an innovative new approach so that everyone can have a mentor. We have developed this in conjunction with several organisations and are now able to offer it more widely. It is a serialised mentoring pack, containing 15 issues that guide you through the stages of mentoring. You can make a photocopy of each issue and pass it on to your mentor. You then use them together as the basis for each mentoring session. Issues contain all you need to know to establish and maintain a successful mentoring relationship over a period of about 12 months (or longer if you meet less often). They include guidance on the stages of mentoring, practical explanations of various theoretical models and frameworks and how to apply them, plus a range of questionnaires and other activities that will ensure you get the most out of the mentoring process. Contents appear as separate issues in ring binder: Introduction to pack Issue 0: Before you Begin Issue 1: Getting Started Issue 2: Establishing your Relationship Issue 3: Creating the Contract Issue 4: Appraising the Mentoring Process Issue 5: Assessment Issue 6: Assessment Continued Issue 7: Analysis Issue 8: Analysis Continued Issue 9: Alternatives Issue 10: Alternatives Continued Issue 11: Appraisal Again Issue 12: Action Planning Issue 13: Finalising the Action Plans Issue 14: Getting Ready to Move On Issue 15: Moving On ACTION MENTORING
